A thuismitheoirí agus a chairde / Dear parents and friends,

We are currently busy in the school organizing paper packages of resources which will be available to be picked up on Monday 11th between 9am - 2pm. Please come to the main school door and a staff member will fetch the packs for your child(ren). These packages will provide basic resources for the rest of the month of January. (We will provide further resources at the end of the month for the first two weeks in February). We would like to stress that these resources will be a back up to our online provision, which will be much more comprehensive. Worksheets required to complete online learning will also be available in the packs. This is so that parents do not feel under pressure to print out worksheets, etc.. However, via our Google classrooms (and SeeSaw for the Naiscoil), parents and pupils will be able to avail of sustained support such as video classes, short voice & video recordings, instruction and feedback from the teachers on a daily basis. Teachers will hold regular Collaborate Ultra class live sessions (the link will be available through the Google Classrooms/ SeeSaw  and times will be posted well in advance), but there will be other activities and recorded content posted also in case your internet provision does not allow access to live streaming.

We understand that home learning puts additional pressure on families and we will endeavour to help as much as we can, while also providing supervised learning in school for vulnerable pupils and those whose parents are key workers. Unlike last year, though, we are obliged to see evidence of pupil engagement with the work provided before we can mark the children as “present” for home learning for the week. We will be in touch with you if we do not hear from our pupils online.

If you are a key worker and wish to register your child(ren) for in-school supervision for next week, please fill in the Google form on the link below before 10 am tomorrow, Friday 8th January.

We would like to stress that this is not face to face teaching. The children will be supervised on a rota basis of all staff. Therefore, they will not necessarily be with their regular class teacher or classroom assistant. From next Monday 11th January, in school supervision is only available from 9am – 2pm for pupils in Rang 1-7, and 9am – 12noon as usual for Naíscoil pupils. All pupils must bring break and a packed lunch for the days they will be in school (this includes snack for the Naíscoil pupils) as no food service is available in school during this Lockdown period. All pupils will be supervised within the main school building during this period.

Le meas,

Aingeal
