Féis Filíochta

22nd Jun 2018

Bhí Féis Filíochta den chéad scoth againn in Ardscoil Naomh Maolmhaodhóg an tseachtain seo. Mhol na moltóirí ardchaighdéan labhartha na ndaltaí agus a chróga is a bhi said uilig ag dul suas ar ardán os comhair lucht féachana.

We held a very successful Poetry Féis this week in St. Malachy's HS. The judges praised all the pupils for their bravery in standing on stage alone in front of an audience and for their high standard of Speech in reciting their poems or songs. Maith sibh, a pháistí!

The overall winner of the Féis was Aoibhe Hastings in Rang 7. Two other special awards were also given out to the  pupils in R7. The trophy for the pupils who made the best efforts to use their Irish all the time was awarded jointly to Pearse Fegan & Tia Facey. The Spirit of the School Award, for best endeavours in every aspect of school life, was also awarded jointly to Ciar Mackin and Leah Kelly. Comhghairdeas libh uilig!

Finally, a special presentation was made to 3 of our governors who are retiring after 50 years of service to the school between them. Colette Walsh, a teacher in Glasdruman PS has helped the school with her academic expertise and recommendations for the last 15 years. Eamonn O'Neill, who has also served for 15 years as a governor, was instrumental in finding and securing the current site for Bunscoil Bheanna Boirche. Unfortunately, Eamonn was unable to attend the short presentation. Finally, Alice Lundy, one of the school's founding parents, has served as a governor for 20 years. Alice has done so many practical tasks over the years to help the running of the school from cleaning to locking up to book-keeping, etc. Alice is not one to draw attention to herself but I would like to thank her on behalf of all the current pupils, parents and staff. Without her commitment and dedication Bunscoil Bheanna Boirche would not be where it is today. When her oldest daughter began Rang 1 there were 4 pupils in the school. We now have 105 and are continuing to grow.

Go raibh míle maith agaibh, Alice, Colette agus Eamonn.
